Being prepared for the career that you have trained and studied for so vigorously is not an easy task. You must have the greatest determination and concentration to set yourself up for accomplishing this task. I feel that I am not completely prepared at this time but I am most confident that by the time that I finish with my education I will have both the knowledge and the skill set for my dream career. The first thing that I needed to prepare myself for this change in my life was to first return to school to gain the education that I need to the tasks required for my career. This comes from the school I have chosen to give me these skills which is ITT Technical Institute. I strongly believe that this institute will provide me with the skills I will need like networking and system analysis. They will also provide me with business savvy skills to help me obtain the job in a professional way so I look like I have a sound head on my shoulders. It will be a long journey to make it to the end of this road but as long as I have strong support from my family, mainly my wife, I should be able to get by just fine. Having my wife in my corner is sometimes the main reason I keep putting up a fight in order to complete this task I have been trying to finish for most of adult life. She gives me the type of motivation and inspiration that anyone would need in times that require a good pep talk, so to say. With the things I have seen her accomplish for her career, it lifts me up to a place where I feel I can do whatever I put my mind to. As the old saying goes ‘They say behind every great man there's a woman. While I'm not a great man, there's a great woman behind me.' (“Most courageous athlete,”1945). I would have to say that the last thing that is going to prepare me for my ‘dream job’ is to have a master plan and to stick with it. First thing on my list is to attend and complete my education which will give me the knowledge and skills to be able to submit resumes for my career. Next is to have enough intern hours under my belt which will give me the experience that the employers like to see from any potential employee that will be hired. Last is to sell myself to that company like I was the best thing that could ever happen to their structure. “Set daily, monthly, and long term goals and dreams. Don’t ever be afraid to dream to big. Nothing is impossible. If you believe in yourself, you can achieve it. (Liukin, 1994) In conclusion, I would first gain the knowledge for my goal. Then determine if you have the necessary backup to give you the help you may need when things get a little crazy. And lastly, I have to make sure that I plan out my steps carefully so I can accomplish this and be on my way to the career of my dreams, and if anyone else is lucky enough, theirs too!…...

Why I Am Where I Am

...years of schooling I have always had the worst exsperience. I was teased all my years of elementry, middle school I was ignored, high school I was the "GEEK" who wore her mothers and sisters clothing. It seems like I have never had a break. I was never able to concentrate on school because I was just always worried about what everyone was saying about me. I was in and out of school, skipping class, hiding in bathrooms just to ignore the akward step of walking into a classroom. I never had anyone to talk to about these things, so I just kept everything inside of me. My mother "then", was not focused on us. She didnt wake us up in the mornings, she didnt get us ready for school, she wouldnt take us to school if we missed the bus. My second oldest sister did all of those things. If we missed the bus I remember having to run across the highway, and this is elementry and middle school days, to catch the bus before it went around the turn around. I never had someone forcing me to go to school or help me through my troubled years. I had to learn to coop on my own and get through things on my own. By the time I got into highschool i just didnt care anymore, I started hanging out with the wrong people doing things that I shouldnt have been doing having to switch schools countless times all eventually led me to just dropping out of high school. By this time, I was 18 and I was forced to live with my boyfriend and his family because of my mother kicking me out right when I turned 18.......

...audiologist said. The voice I remember hearing was heartless. “Would you rather be deaf and mute and signing the whole time? Not being aware of your surrounding? Or would you rather be able to hear and talk in the normal world?” The audiologist says it with no emotions. I thought my world died when Cincinnati Children’s audiologist told my Father and me. My diagnosis at the age of two revealed a profound and unexplainable hearing loss; however, I continued to function normally as I still do today. My hearing loss is severe to profound, so I was fitted with my first hearing aids. When I heard my first sound, I was amazed at the difference between my silence world and my new hearing world. I see that people take so much for granted because hearing is so natural, but I understand the challenge of matching words to sounds to communication which wasn’t fun at all. I was “muted” for a really long time. My mother would tell me that people would get in my face talking loudly, and I would get upset. I was just starting to talk at the age of 5. English is not my first language; American Sign Language is. I attended St. Rita’s School for The Deaf for about three years and is where I became fluent in ASL. As a Kindergartener, I went to a mainstream school, Clifton Elementary. I couldn’t understand the fact that all my friends who were hearing impaired like me had to stay in a room with a teacher who knew signs. They would always tell me that I didn’t need to be there, I would have to......

I Think I Am/Am Not an Entrepreneur. I Am a ... Entrepreneur Because...

..."I think I am/am not an entrepreneur. I am a ... entrepreneur because...” 15/9/201 Introduction In this assignment, I will explain as to why I think I am a lifestyle entrepreneur and the reasons as to why I think I am classified as this type of entrepreneur. I will discuss what a lifestyle entrepreneur is as well as the major motivations that form an integral part of the lifestyle entrepreneur’s choice to follow the specified path. The following motivations of autonomy, family and leisure time, passion and intrinsic reward and satisfaction as well as life quality will be discussed at different stages of my assignment. I will also show how some of these motivations integrate together to form a basis for the lifestyle entrepreneur. What is a lifestyle entrepreneur? As noted by Henderson (2002:49), to support a desired lifestyle or provide a family income is reasons as to why a lifestyle entrepreneur will start a new venture. These entrepreneurs also seek independence and control over their own schedule. Whilst Mottiar (2007:67) argues that a lifestyle entrepreneur is concerned with maintaining income at a level sufficient enough to provide them and their family with adequate funds to allow them to enjoy their chosen lifestyle. As can been seen in the above, lifestyle entrepreneurs aim to make as much money as they require to live and maintain the lifestyle of their choice (Janssen-Selvadurai, 2010:187). Important components to the lifestyle entrepreneur that act as......

I Am What I Am

...“I Am What I AM” is a musical which was on shown in January in Sheung Wan Civic Centre. The story of the musical is actually a real-life story adapted from a Singapore transgender person, Abigail, about making a tough decision of being loyal to her true gender. Abigail’s frustration of whether to take the Sex Reassignment Surgery (“SRS” for short) or not was exquisitely presented in the musical, so as to communicate with the audience and encourage them to have an in-depth review about the related issue. Why Abigail hopes to be a female rather than a male? To uncover the underlying reasons, let’s start with knowing more about her life in early stage. Being born as a boy, Abigail felt that he was a girl deeply inside his mind. Liked other normal little girls, he loved playing Barbie dolls and doll’s houses. Presenting girls’ characteristics in his childhood gave him a derogatory nickname, “Girlish Boy”, which was frequently called by his classmates in primary school. Trying to conceal his female mind, Abigail always made himself looks like stronger, self-reliant through behaviors, thoughts but seems that was not successful. His classmates continued to laugh at him with offensive languages. When he grew up, he felt much more natural and comfortable to play with girls while sensed shy to play with boys. In Singapore, boys who aged 18 had to serve their duty in military. During that period, Abigail took baths in late evening after all the other soldiers took their baths. It......

I Hope I Am Not Dreaming

...assignment 4 I Hope I Am Not Dreaming On one sunny spring morning, I stepped out of my bed and thought to myself, when does all this end. I knew that I had to pick extra shifts at work because my mother needed some money. My mother had exactly one month to come up with 80 thousand shillings, and if not she would lose her house, that she had used as a collateral for a school loan in order for my younger brother to go to school. Mother had always taught me to be patient with time and that “Gods time wasn’t our time.” At this very minute however, it was almost impossible to still believe, “I have issues of my own, you know” I need a larger apartment, my car sounds like its going to quit any minute now, I need to see a dentist but my company has dropped my insurance coverage. I have invested my time and money into an undergraduate degree that really never change my standard of living, in fact, I am left paying off student loans with money from my old part time job. I walked to the mirror and to my shock; I could not recognize the person in the mirror. I thought this had to be a dream. I stood there for a good ten minutes thinking, how easier life would be for me if I was the woman in the mirror, Paris Hilton. She is an heir to a multimillion dollar establishment. Oh my, I love her blonde hair and skinny body, she is tall, beautiful, not too smart and not college educated but, who cares; she is wealthy. I thought to myself, I could really get used to this. I......

Who Am I

...Style and Substance/Joseph Couch 1 Introduction Academic Writing with Style and Substance Offering Opinions and Exchanging Ideas Understanding the Difference Much writing on the Internet, for high school, and for general purposes contains the personal opinions of writers. As a result, some of the phrases below are very common in these writing situations: “To me,” “I think” “Personally,” “For me,” “It is this writer’s opinion” Style and Substance/Joseph Couch 2 While everyone has a right to a personal opinion, relying on opinion in college writing usually means hiding behind that right rather than facing the fact that others can question a writer’s ideas. As a result, the common defense of “that’s my opinion” does not matter much as a reason to support an essay’s ideas. What does matter for a class that requires a textbook such as this one is writing that shows critical thought and (often) outside research. The first step towards writing with these qualities is an understanding that it does not stand alone as an opinion. In fact, college-level writing acknowledges and engages with the ideas of others who have also often done some critical thinking and outside research on the topic. Essentially, college professors want essays that exchange ideas with other readers and writers rather than present ideas on the level of opinions. This is not to say that a student’s ideas do not count in college writing. The process to a completed paper does often begin with one’s......

I Am Ready for Change. Are You Ready for Change?

...Pols 115: Introduction to American Government Section: 1PM MWF Instructor: Dr. Steven Andrew Light November 24, 2008 I am ready for change. Are you ready for change? I am ready for change. Are you ready for change? The democrat Barack Obama was recently elected as the new President of the United States, with a fairly convincing victory over the republican John McCain. The American people where obviously ready for change, but would there have been any major difference if the outcome of the election was turned in McCain’s favor? There would naturally have been some differences between an Obama presidency and a McCain presidency, but both naturally want what’s best for their country. So if the differences between an Obama presidency and a McCain presidency would result in an outcome that the U.S. population in general would be better off or benefit from, are not very likely. Obama spoke about change, he got elected, so now it will be interesting to see if he practice what he preach. People have always been promised a lot from politicians, and people often end up being disappointed because a politician doesn’t deliver what is promised. Maybe the most important change Barack Obama can make is changing this impression, and he should do that by making the financial crisis, the increasing unemployment, and the extraction of U.S. soldiers from Iraq, the first three priorities he will deal with as the President of the United States. Barack Obama isn’t going to be a Messiah for......

Who I Am

...September 14, 2014 Who I Am Wake up son, get your shit together. Why aren’t you taking your future seriously? You better buckle down, you’re running out of time. These are some of the things I have heard my entire life. I’m just your average young man that has missed out on opportunities to become something more than average. I haven’t always made the right decisions when it comes down to it. Not anymore though, that ship has sailed and I’m hoping to better myself each and every day. Growing up I did what every kid does, get into trouble. Sometimes I would take it to the extreme, like when I was nine years old and almost burned my entire house to the ground. I’m laughing as I write and think about that experience. What kid wouldn’t love to play with fire at that age though? Or another situation when I was in high school and a teacher tried pulling a Miami Heat hat off of my head on “Hat day”. “Hat day” was a day where you were allowed to wear any hat that you’d like, but the teacher apparently had a problem with me in the first place and didn’t like the way I was wearing it. It was like he literally wanted to fight me over a hat in the middle of the hallway. I got suspended for a couple days because I didn’t “cooperate” with an authority figure… I’m shaking my head as I write this but these types of things don’t really impact your future as much though at that age. I grew up with an older brother and the things he did really influenced the way I did things. Now he......

Who Am I? Why Am I Here?

...Who Am I? My name is xxxxxxxxx and I am a woman originally born in the city of xxxxxx, xxxxx. I came to the United States at age five and I recently became xxx years old on my birthday, this past xxxx x, xxxx. As a woman of Hispanic origin, I am very rich in Latin and Central American Indian culture. I grew up with my mom and aunts speaking a derivative of Pig Latin. I have a Spanish style of cooking and mostly all my plates are xxxxxx dishes. I may have grown up in the states all my life, but I’m almost 100% rooted in Spanish customs. As a person, I identify myself as a child of God. Spiritually, I am always seeking knowledge and wisdom since I believe it comes from God. My faith is deeply rooted in my confession, that I am a spirit who will one day return to my maker. Holding such a belief has its advantages. For example, I generally do not abide by society’s norm of what I should be, or my role in life. I also believe that if I’m still here, there’s work to be done. I love to explore Biblical concepts and beliefs. As a mother I am an attentive soul. I’m always looking out for my children and their personal interest. I like to give them their space, but yet hold them accountable. I tend to be conservative with my children and do not try to push them beyond their limits. To me, being who we are and doing what we do, just as we choose whether to build a relationship with God, is a very personal matter. While most people do not like my parenting style, I think it’s......

Am I Inside the Movie?

...Anh Le COM 100 Dr. Bill Withers 12/08/15 Am I inside the Movie? Many legacy-media forms, which cannot follow the evolution of the society trend and culture, start to fail claiming the audience attention. However, film is a reflection of society for both the present and the past. I believe film and its innovation have to catch up to society but sometimes it leads the society and culture too. That why in the future, “the theaters of the future will be bigger and more beautiful than ever before. They will employ expensive presentation formats that cannot be accessed or reproduced in the home (such as, ironically, film prints). And they will still enjoy exclusivity, as studios relearn the tremendous economic value of the staggered release of their products”, said Christopher Nolan, the director of the "Dark Knight" trilogy, "Inception," and "Interstellar.”(Nolan) In the past, the disadvantage of technology make the film industry cost a lot of money to produce film. In 1981, Thomas Edison, an inventor, created a device called the Kinetoscope which change the course of media history; this invention started a new era of Film industry. However, it took nine years to make the first film called “A Trip to the Moon” was made by a French filmmaker named Georges Mésliès. Also in 1915, another major motion picture was produced by a writer, actor, and camera operator, D.W. Griffith and an Edison Company camera operator Edwin S. Porter; this film was called “The Birth of a Nation”.......

Who I Am

...Although I do not have any subordinates in my current position, nor have I supervised anyone in a few years, I think that all of my previous subordinates would view me as a demanding and caring individual. I strive to lead by example and I hold people accountable for their actions. However, I do try to put myself in their shoes to better understand them. I have always lived by the rule; treat people the way that I want to be treated. Therefore, I try to understand them before making a tough decision. For me, this has very effective throughout my life. My supervisor would describe me as knowledgeable, professional and motivated. These three characteristics are extremely important for someone in my position. I do not have face-to-face contact with my supervisor on a regular basis and his primary feedback on my performance is mission success. He knows that the above three attributes are what a person in my position needs in order to be successful. My leadership style is a mix of democratic and paternalistic. I feel that involving my subordinates in the decision making process is extremely important. For them, it gets them to think differently and gains their trust. For me, it can bring a fresh perspective and maybe a better solution. I feel that when everyone is incorporated in this process, we have a much higher chance for success. I believe that when people feel that they are heard they are more willing to put maximum effort into a project. I also find that this type......

I Am Assignment

...I Am Assignment Ahlam Gulaid Thursday July 7, 2016 I have maintained Academic Integrity in my work by adhering to the values of honesty and integrity. I declare that this work respects APA requirements as well as policies within the School of Health Sciences. Student Signature:_______________________________________ Student Number: N01185523 As humans we are all innately different. Our differences stem from cultural backgrounds, ethnicities, race, gender, but sometimes from something as fundamental as personality. As such we are always defining what is considered to be “normal” in every aspect of our lives. The definition of normal as it relates to any one category is subjective and varies from individual to individual. That being said, I believe that sometimes in our quest to be “normal” an individual may conform to a group’s widely accepted standard, as a result forfeiting or losing a unique aspect of his or her identity (which sometimes could be a relative cultural practice). I believe for us to achieve total tolerance and acceptance as a society, while maintaining our diversity we must expand our definitions of normal repeatedly as the composition of our society changes with time and we as people evolve. As I was once a newly arrived Immigrant I know how hard the culture shock can be when someone first sets foot in Canada. Coming from the Middle East to Canada it was such a culture shock for me because I’m coming from a country in which the women & men......

I Am the Way

...Andrew S. Bledsoe BIBLE 323-B03 03/05/12 I AM THE WAY THE TRUTH AND THE LIFE -JOHN 14:6 In the Book of John we see Jesus making some very bold statements about Himself, and relating Himself to the Father. The statements all begin with “I AM.” In the Book of Exodus 3:14, God says, “I AM THAT I AM,” [1] Which in Hebrew means I am the One that shall be, I am that was. This statement always comes to those who lack faith, in the Old Testament it came with Moses at the burning bush, in the New Testament it came with the disciples on numerous occasions. One particular “ I AM” statement is the one found in [2] John: 14:7, “Jesus said unto them, I Am the way the Truth and the Life: no man comes unto the Father except through Me.” We were in need of a Savior due to our lack of righteousness that was the key of Christ explaining the way to God. [6] The mediator did not come on His own. God so loved that He “gave”, that He “sent” His Son. We begin the Chapter of Jesus speaking to the disciples in the Upper Room, [3] On page 118 of Jesus is the Christ, “Jesus was talking to the disciples about His imminent departure, finishing with “and where I am going you know the way.” [6] On page 46 of Saved from what by R.C. Sproul, “The promise of entering into Christ’s presence came initially from the lips of Jesus Himself.” While in the...
