Why Training and Education Are Vital in Health Care

...that they are in compliance with minimum wage pay, making sure that all employees get paid appropriately for overtime, and that the workplace is safe and has healthy conditions for all employees. Another way this effects human resources is they have to continually assure that no employee was let go for a discriminatory reason. If it is found that the company has not hired someone, or even fired someone because of discrimination, the company can face huge fines. Also, when laying someone off, or firing them, human resources have to make a decision as to whether they would benefit keeping this person on and possibly put in a different position that they may be more fit for, or if they want to pay them unemployment. Either way, the company is paying out money, or human resources has to decide what is the best decision for the company. The United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission ensures that all qualified people get hired for a position despite race, creed, or sex. This mandates that, if a person feels that they did not get a job that they were interviewed for because they were a minority, that the company can face fines and penalties. This forces human resources to not only look at a typical person for a certain position, but anyone that could be qualified. For instance, a man and a woman both apply for a nursing position in a doctor office. The human resource manager is old fashioned and feels a female nurse is better suited for the job. The female gets hired,......

Die Because It's Time and Not Because There Is a Line.

...Renata Libertuci de Orio. College Prep – Tuesdays and Thursdays. March 15th 2012. DIE BECAUSE IT IS TIME AND NOT BECAUSE THERE IS A LINE. One of people’s greatest fears in life is death and this fear only gets bigger when people think that to try to prevent an early death, or even to die having a little comfort and knowing that you did everything you could, it will cost a lot of money, especially if you are in the United States. That is probably why people do everything they can to have health insurance, which is monthly paid and kind of expensive, but unfortunately, that is not enough because when you need to see a doctor or go to a hospital, it is charged an extra fee. It is written in the Human Rights “Everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and well-being of himself and of his family, including food, clothing, housing and medical care and necessary social services…” If health care is that much important, shouldn’t it have universal coverage within the United States? If going to the hospital wasn’t so expensive people would take better care of their health. I have seen a lot of people not going to the doctor, myself included, just because it is expensive. Of course, in some occasions it can be impossible, depending on what kind of accident you had or pain you are feeling. However, most people don’t seek for a doctor if they consider their symptoms transient. It is hard to imagine myself going to the doctor every time I have the flu...

Because It Is Running by

...Because it is running by – essay A. “Because It Is Running By” is a short story which was published in 2009 by Jo Lloyd. It is a short story because there are few people in it, it is short, the action is simple, realistic and it has an open ending. This short story is about Wil who is in a place in his life where he has to choose where he wants to be and he has to let the past go. The main character in the story is Wil who lives with his mother. (Page 1, line 8): “The B&B’s the only thing making money, his mother had said. We just need the weather, he had said, the veg’ll pick up”. Wil does not like changes and in the start he is sceptical about the new helper Edie. Wil and his mother’s lives “stopped” when Wil’s father died. (Page 1, line 14): “The guests had breakfast in the room that used to be the family sitting room. […] Wil had hardly been in that room since the B&B started.” (Page 1, line 25): “Sometimes, on her way out, she’d see Wil working in the field, planting, digging, stacking boxes of veg into the back of the old van”. It sounds like Wil is a person who works hard and maybe he tries to take over his father’s role. It is not mentioned that Wil has other siblings and maybe that is the reason, why he wants to have the father role. Wil’s father died when he was sixteen and it is the age where you have to find yourself. Edie from London is very different contrary to Wil. In the start she is turned inwards but he tries to make her outgoing. (Page 2,......

...AMAZING even without the magical erupting aspect.  It is the best sensory snow we have ever tried.  It is naturally cold, making it the most realistic as well.  It is fluffy and powdery and clean smelling and AMAZING!  You also only need TWO INGREDIENTS to make it ; baking soda and shaving cream -two things most people already have on hand! To make your own Snow: Add the desired amount of baking soda to a sensory bin or container.  Then, slowly mix in shaving cream.  I used one large box of baking soda and almost a full can of shaving foam.  As you slowly mix in the shaving cream you will discover a fantastic mold-able snow.  The snow is super soft, silky smooth, and smells so clean and fresh.  It is also naturally cold.  I am not sure why exactly but it is!  It feels just like fresh fallen powder in your hands. Playing with the snow just like this is LOTS of FUN!  Rosie added glitter just for fun but it isn't necessary of course.  She had a blast making snow balls and snow men for a while. Then I surprised her with the magical aspect of the snow.  I gave her a spray bottle of vinegar and she had a blast makingMAGIC SNOWBALLS! She also loved making the snowmen she made erupt! Then she dropped a few snowballs in a bowl of vinegar to make a snow avalanche and huge snow ERUPTIONS! This ERUPTING Snow is just too fun!  With or without the vinegar it makes a fabulous sensory snow!  Now that we have created this recipe I don't think we will be making Sparkle......

Why Is Oral Health Important for Men?

...Why is Oral Health Important for Men? Men are less likely than women to take care of their physical health and, according to surveys and studies, their oral health is equally ignored. Good oral health recently has been linked with longevity. Yet, one of the most common factors associated with infrequent dental checkups is just being male. Men are less likely than women to seek preventive dental care and often neglect their oral health for years, visiting a dentist only when a problem arises. When it comes to oral health, statistics show that the average man brushes his teeth 1.9 times a day and will lose 5.4 teeth by age seventy-two. If he smokes, he can plan on losing twelve teeth by age seventy-two. Men are also more likely to develop oral and throat cancer and periodontal or gum disease (“Why Is Oral Health Important for Men,” 2010). According to Lara (2010), since maintaining a good oral health is vital, you must strive to observe the proper ways of oral hygiene (1). Aside from personal practices such as brushing, gargling, and using dental floss, it is advisable for you to visit your dentist every 6 months. Moreover, it is necessary that you should inform your dentist not only of your dental, but also your medical history or recent health problems. Your dentist is usually one of the first individuals to detect and diagnose a health problem and he can help you in identifying these diseases in their earliest phase. In conclusion, people are advised to......

Why? Because.

...Why Ed Sheeran Should Choose Me to Be His Girlfriend By Isabelle Bradford Why should Ed Sheeran pick me to be his girlfriend you ask? Well, obviously it’s because we have so much in common, but if you don’t know either of us very well, fret not, I shall explain it to you. Firstly, Ed and I would be a great couple because I am his ultimate fan. There is no doubt that I know everything about him, and appreciate him more than anyone else. I know Ed’s entire history, from when he was a street performer up until today. A close friend and I run an instagram account dedicated to the Sheerio fandom. The term “sheerio” is what you would refer to as a hardcore Ed Sheeran fan. Everyday we post pictures of him and write a nice message about Ed or quote part of a song that he’s written. This is proof of the extensive knowledge I have about Ed, and the commitment I have to him. Secondly, Ed and I would be a fantastic couple because I play the ukulele and he plays the guitar (amongst other instruments), so we would be able to spend time writing songs together. This is beneficial to him because he would be able to spend time writing songs for work, whilst spending time with his girlfriend. If we were to have true feelings for each other, I could be his muse. As every genuine sheerio knows, he writes a lot of his songs based on the people in his life. More often than not they are love songs, and I would be thrilled if he wrote them about me. Thirdly, Ed and I would be an......

Why Younger Generations Ought to Pay More Attention to Health Insurance

...It is hard to imagine life without health insurance. If you have any type of medical problem that requires attention, and you have appropriate health care insurance, you can be cared for in the finest of private hospitals. You can get great treatment and your ailments, depending on the severity, can be treated as soon as possible. Doctors, physicians and surgeons are willing to put out a big effort if they know that they are dealing with patients who are insured and have the money to go under extensive medical treatment. But imagine life without such luxuries. For example, what happens if a relative requires much needed surgery, but does not have health insurance to cover the procedure? What happens if a lack of medical insurance prevents you or your family from seeing a doctor, which could result in health problems that had not been identified but could have been treated before they became life threatening? These scenarios may seem far-fetched, but these types of situations happen to people who lack health coverage everyday. There is a true story about a patient who was insured and diagnosed with treatable cervical cancer. Unfortunately, she lost her job and with it her insurance. She was then unable to see her private doctor, and was turned away from other hospitals because ?cancer treatment is not considered an emergency in a patient who can?t pay? (?Help for D.C.?s Uninsured?). The woman later died at her home without ever being treated. This example raises the question,......

¿What Is Stress and Why Is It Important in the Society, Economy and Health of the Xxi Century?

...century” given that it seems to be the price to pay tin order to achieve goals these days. Stress is most common in students and workers nowadays, which is why the following essay will expose some of the consequences of underestimating the seriousness of stress in an individual, in a work place and in a society of the twenty-first century and some ways to manage and prevent it. Stress is manifested nowadays more frequently that one would imagine. People should start to think how frequently do they and people around them use the phrases “I am so stressed out” or “I’ve been feeling so stressed lately”. The answer would most likely be “too frequent”. Actually, stress seems to be infiltrating in each and every person’s life. The time that people spend stressing over an assignment, especially students, is inhumane. There is nothing wrong with taking two minutes and eat something or relax. Otherwise, that’s where stress begins to kick in. Stress has begun to take away peoples lives. Even if they are not working, they are still thinking of what they need to hand in or to do for Monday. People are already regularly stressed on a daily basis, because of any inconvenience at work, any traffic and any noises that people have to put up with every day. Besides that permanent stress, there is the stress that people put on them because of the pressure to do something on time and well done. Even though students know that high school, college and universities can be stressful before......

Explain How and Why Person Centred Values Must Influence All Aspects of Health and Social Care Work.

...1.1 Explain how and why person centred values must influence all aspects of health and social care work. Person centred values influence all aspects of health and social care work, for the reason that by law requirements in regards to the Human Rights Act 1998, Health and Social Care Act 2012, along with Codes of Practice for Social Care Workers, health and social care should be based on person centred values. In the interest of individuals who are receiving care, it enables them to be treated with respect and dignity, involving their own needs beliefs and identities, as well as to be supported to remain independent as much as possible. Person centred values also involve individuals to be supported to access their rights, as well as providing anti-discrimination practices together with promoting equal opportunities for individuals, and presenting choices and safety. Ultimately, it is all about diverse people who are involved in health and social care work, so therefore, the values that influences care must be person centred. 1.2 Evaluate the use of care plans in applying person centred values. For information regarding individuals such as patients/service users, a care plan otherwise known as a support plan is used as a vital source of document. Individuals who generally have a long-term condition require a care plan as it is an agreement involving themselves and their health care professionals. The document enables the health of an individual to be managed daily,......

Why Is the Health Care Referred to as Imperfect

...3/10/2016 Why is the healthcare market referred to as “Imperfect” The reason the U.S health care market is referred to as imperfect is because it does not meet the classical criteria of a free market place. The prices are generally set by agencies external to the market known as a private sector, and they are not freely governed by the forces of supply and demand, in other words the quantity of health care purchased. The patients also lack the information necessary to make a prudent decision. Instead of healthcare insurance protecting their patients against catastrophic risks, its shields its patients against the cost of health care and acts as a pre-payment for health services such as a basic and routine health care check. The United States health care system is mostly provided by the private sector and some of the hospitals are run by the government. It is also stated that about 70% of the hospitals are nonprofit, leaving the rest for profit hands. The health plans acting as negotiators for the patient typically function as buyer of the health care. (Shi & Singh 2014, p. 11). The health-care system is a complex, interrelated system of imperfect markets. Those imperfections make it difficult to get the services you need and want at a price you can afford. In the USA, health care services are governed by the market through the presence of insurance agencies, but the insurance market is not efficient because of the presence of adverse selection and moral hazard, two......

The Cost and Spending of Health Care: Why Universal Health Care

...COST AND SPENDING OF HEALTH CARE: Why Universal Health Care 06/18/2012 THE COST AND SPENDING OF HEALTH CARE: Why Universal Health Care Health care cost and spending is a major concern for our society. Many governments around the world have established universal health care, which takes the burden of health care expenses off of private businesses or individuals through pooling of financial risk. There are a variety of arguments for universal health care and related health policies. Health care is an important part of health systems and therefore it often accounts for one of the largest areas of spending for both governments and individuals all over the world. For example, medical debt is now a leading cause of personal bankruptcy in the United States. A policy should be created to help lower the cost of health care. One way that would help improve health care spending is to create a universal health care to make sure everyone is covered. By creating a universal health care, it will help decrease the number of lobbyers which in turn will cut government funding to those special interest groups. There are 45 million Americans uninsured and according to CNN report 45,000 Americans die each year due to lack of affordable health care. So by creating a universal health care, we can be sure to expect to see a longer lifespan for our population as is the case in countries that have a universal health care. Since this type of health care would be......
