This activity is for first year Chinese students. It includes: 1. How to choose course
In this part, we would talk about cognates and writing points. First year students usually don’t understand what are cognates and writing points. They are likely to choose some unnecessary courses. What we do is to play the role in guiding freshmen. We would show them how to search a cognate and how to search courses that have writing points. We would explain those in details and combine our illustration with pictures. 2. How to use resource (library, writing center, ARC)
Freshmen may only come to library to study but they don’t know how to borrow books. That’s we are going to show them. Since ENG105 is compulsory for all freshmen, students need to write lots of essays and writing center is a great institution that could revise our essays, especially we Chinese students don’t have a strong English writing ability. We would show them how to make use of all available resource on campus. 3. How to transfer to school of business administration
A lot of students want to transfer to school of business administration but most of them don’t know how. Therefore, we want to invite an official advisor to talk about the specific requirements for students who want to transfer to school of business administration.
Which course should they take before they could be accepted to school of business administration? What’s the minimum GPA?
Which course under the school of business administration they could enroll even though they are not currently in the school of business administration?
We want an advisor to briefly introduce some hottest programs in school of business.
We also want the advisor to explain the difference between BBA and BSBA. What kind of students is more suitable to get BBA?
Which is more suitable for BSBA?
We hope the advisor could give our first year…...

...to look at is the 'multiline' option. This option can only be used with regualr expression matches and changes what the pattern matcher considers to be the beginning of the string. In regular expressions, you can match the beginning of a line with the '^' metacharacter. In the default 'singleline' mode, the beginning of the line is the beginning of the string. Any newlines in the string are not treated as the beginning of a line. When you use the multiline option, embedded newlines are treated as the beginning of a line. Let's look at an example. First we need some text to split - we'll use a here-string to put this text into the $text variable. It has been ported to Microsoft Windows and distributed with Cygwin and MinGW, to DOS by the DJGPP project, to Novell NetWare and to Android via various terminal emulation applications. Bash is a command processor, typically run in a text window, allowing the user to type commands which cause actions. Bash can also read commands from a file, called a script. Like all Unix shells, it supports filename wildcarding, piping, here documents, command substitution, variables and control structures for condition testing and iteration. The keywords, syntax and other basic features of the language were all copied from sh. Other features, e.g., history, were copied from csh and ksh. Bash is a POSIX shell but with a number of extensions. The name itself is an acronym, a pun, and a description. As an acronym, it stands for Bourne-again shell, referring to its objective as a free replacement for the Bourne shell. As a pun, it expressed that objective in a phrase that sounds similar to born again, a term for spiritual rebirth. The name is also descriptive of what it did, bashing together the features of sh, csh, and ksh. Early computers had a teletype machine with a keyboard for I/O. Later, glass terminals became the norm,...
