...It is the administrator or IT department to find these such holes and find a way to abolish them before they are inundated with the chaos the hackers bring forth. Agreeing with “HackingAlert” the prevention is more difficult and complex in real life (HackingAlert). A large threat and a near fatal threat is the malware, it is used to capture vital information from the user’s computer, such as logins and passwords. This type of information is used in high-risk areas such as banking information. It can be well hidden in applications like a PowerPoint presentation, email, instant messenger, or a Web Site may have it hidden or embedded in the site itself. This paper will discuss these measures in hopes to educate the user in open-minded scenarios. First thing to know is that there is no absolute way to prevent hackers on a 100% basis. If there is a full proof system there will always be a hacker out there trying to break in. That is why it is important to be ferocious in keeping the systems safe from these hackers and prevent the intrusion in the first place. Big companies like NASA to Wal-mart have been victims of hackers, so no one person or company is safe from these hackers. Some of the preventive measures call for Operating System updates, to keep them current, some say not to but it is a better idea to update your Operating system. Web browsers are another application that hackers are trying to penetrate so update these also. Unfortunately personally have found that some......

Small Teams and Groups

...Small Team and Group Paper Working as part of a small team or group is inevitable at some point in every person’s career. Whether it is at a food establishment or in an office environment, teams and groups always play a crucial role in the business world. I have worked with several small teams and groups, but the longest I’ve worked in such an environment was as an instructor for the U.S. Army in Arizona. I taught for four years as a contract instructor at the Human Intelligence Collector Course at Fort Huachuca, Arizona. The course was broken down into three detachments numbered One, Two, and Three. Each detachment was broken down into six smaller groups. Each group consisted of approximately six to eight contract instructors, a civilian group leader, and one to three military group leaders or assistant group leaders. Each group consisted of approximately four teaching teams of two to three contract instructors and the rest of the instructors were generally role players or assisted with grading reports. The purpose of each of the teaching teams was to present classes in order to teach the military students the essentials of becoming a Human Intelligence Collector. The breakdown within each detachment generally changed for every class cycle. Each class cycle lasted approximately 18 weeks, sometimes longer with holiday weekends, with about 2 weeks or less in between classes. During the break between classes, the upper management and the military leadership would review......

Groups and Teams Paper

...Groups and Teams Paper MGT 307 February 1, 2011 John A. Zawora, Ph.D. Group and Team Diversity Oxford's English Dictionary defines a group as "an assemblage of persons, animals, or material things, standing near together, so as to form a collective unity; a knot (of people), a cluster (of things). In early use the word often conveys a notion of confused aggregation, which in recent use is not implied." (Oxford English Dictionary, 2011). Comparatively, a team is defined as "a number of persons associated in some joint action; hence, a group collaborating in their professional work or in some enterprise or assignment" (Oxford English Dictionary, 2011). Several variations and types of groups exist. According to Robbins & Judge (2009) A group is made up of "two or more individuals, interacting and interdependent, who have come together to achieve particular objectives. Groups can be either formal or informal" (Robbins & Judge, 2009, p. 284). In formal groups, the structure is more organized and the focus is specifically directed toward achievement of organizational goals and objectives. In informal groups, the structure is far less ordered and there is not as much emphasis placed on accomplishing goals directed by the organization. There are several types of sub-group categories. Command groups, task groups, interest groups, and friendship groups are all examples of sub-group types as described by Robbins & Judge, (2009). Task and command groups are aligned under...

Teams and Groups Paper

...Groups and Teams University of Phoenix- Axia In today’s business society the difference between being a group and a team can determine the success of an organization. Teams play a major role in the success of organizations. Harvard Business School professor asserts that although individuals are important, teams are the central unit of entrepreneurial success (Sahlman, 2007). The fact is that teams and groups are the majority of the world, so that why individuals sometimes seem to be left out. Companies that cannot turn individuals and groups into teams will definitely have a hard time keeping up with their opposition. Groups The fact is that a group is a bunch of individuals who just have not made the decision to become a team. Jennifer Henderson one of the nation's leading organizational development consultants, points out that all organizations start off as a group, but to truly grow and thrive, they eventually must become a team (Klein, 2002). Many individuals forms groups but very few make the transition into becoming a team. Types of groups The three types of groups are: informal, formal, and base. Informal groups are groups of people who spend very little time together but are brought together by a person of authority to either accomplish a goal such as discussion or completion of a project in a short amount of time. Formal groups are groups of people who spend more time together in order for planning to occur as a way to......

Groups and Teams Paper

...Groups and Teams Paper Ask five people on the street what the difference between a group and a team is and there will likely be five different answers, all of which to a degree are correct. Outside of a business setting, people might have difficulty explaining the differences between the two since they are used interchangeably. Groups In the simplest form, a group is two or more individuals that may or may not be located in the same area. A search of the Oxford English Dictionary (2011) defines a group as “a number of persons or things regarded as forming a unity on account of any kind of mutual or common relation, or classed together on account of a certain degree of similarity” and “An assemblage of persons, animals, or material things, standing near together, so as to form a collective unity; a knot (of people), a cluster (of things). In early use the word often conveys a notion of confused aggregation, which in recent use is not implied”. The types of above-mentioned groups tend to not be chosen. For example a group of people watching a baseball game have not chosen the other members of the group they are in, they simply happen to be at the same place doing the same thing. The same can be said for people who are in a research group for a new drug; they are joined by their circumstances and have not chosen the other members of the group. Just as there are many different types of groups that are extremely basic and unrelated to the workplace...

Groups and Teams Paper

...Groups and Teams Paper MGT/307 May 23, 2011 Paul Porch Groups and Teams Paper When asked to explain the difference between a group and a team, some people have a blank stare in their face because they believe that a group and a team share the same definition. Although the two words do have similar characteristics, their definitions are different. In this paper the subject to explain is the differences between a group and a team, why it is important for workplace diversity in an organization, and how it relates to team dynamics in the workplace. A group is defined as two or more individuals, interacting and interdependent, who have come together to achieve particular objectives (Robbins & Judge, 2009). Groups share information and make decisions to help one another perform within their area of responsibility. Groups can either be informal or formal. Informal groups are natural formations in an organization that interact outside the work environment, such as having coffee or lunch on the regular. These interactions greatly affect each individual’s behavior and performance in the work environment. On the other hand, formal groups in an organization have designated work assignments and established tasks. The behavior of the individual members in formal groups should engage in are stipulated by and directed toward organizational goals. Work groups have no positive synergy; instead it is neutral and sometimes even negative. Work groups do not contribute as much effort......

Groups and Team Paper

...Groups and Teams Paper Anita Fields Management 307 Paul Mahajan April 27, 2011 Groups and Teams A team is internally organized with specific goals and usually with specific roles for different members of a team. A group is a collection of people with something in common, such as working in the same place, sharing the same interest, and mutually making decisions deciding what needs be done. The group’s purpose is the same as the organizational mission. All organizations start as a group, but to produce and succeed, a group must form a team. The most important component of joining a team is to have a goal and time to meet the goal. A team compliments each other, encourages open-ended discussion, and active problem-solving meetings. A team also performs directly by assessing collective work products and work together. Behaviors of a team are different from a group. Larger team requires structure and support; smaller teams often have difficulty meeting when members are absent. The formation of a group is often easier than the formation of a team. People are grouped based on age, gender,...

Mgt/311 Week 3 Individual Paper

...proposing the Hierarchy of Needs Theory in 1943. This particular theory is based on the assumption that there is a hierarchy of five needs within each individual. The five needs are physiological, safety, social, esteem, and self-actualization. According to Maslow individuals are motivated by unsatisfied needs. Once the needs are satisfied it can drive and force the employee’s next need to emerge and begin to be worked upon. There is a higher order needs and a lower order needs that Maslow grouped the five needs into. The physiological and safety needs are placed in the lower order needs. The social, esteem and self-actualization needs fall into the higher order needs (Robbins & Judge, 2011). The word motivation is comes from the word ‘motive’ which means needs, desires, wants or drives an individual. One of the most important functions of management is to create willingness within the employees to perform to the best of their abilities. Sometimes an employee might be better motivated to do well through a desire for money, success, recognition, job satisfaction and or team work. As you can see from the three distinct individuals chosen to take the self-assessments finding a way to motivate them all uniquely will be a challenge. Our managers will have to monitor their progress on a daily and weekly basis. In order for each team member to grow we will have to flawlessly execute their action plans using the motivational strategies outlined in this summary and on their......
