For example, one major difference is that both poetry and drama frequently place a strong emphasis on performance before an audience that is physically present, while the short story is more commonly intended for individual reading.
With that said, it is important to remember that all literary works couldn’t always be easily classified into a single genre. Moreover, literary works, which might be classified as belonging to one genre, might possess many qualities more typical of other genres. For example, Shakespeare’s Macbeth is classified as drama, but in many respects takes the form of poetry. In other words, sometimes the differences between categories like drama, poetry, and the short story are not so easily defined. Often a short story might contain poetic or dramatic qualities, or a poem might include narrative and dramatic features.
In your post, summarize the major similarities and differences between the forms of drama, poetry, and the short story. Demonstrate your ideas with textual examples from the course readings. In your response, include at least one example of each literary form. If you wish, you may also point to examples that indicate the blurring of literary genres (e.g., the poetic qualities of Macbeth or the dramatic elements of Gift of the Magi).

...Death of a Salesman Reaction Paper Travis Givens ENG 125 09 March 2014 Edward Wilson Death of a Salesman Reaction Paper Death of a Salesman is the literary composition play I chose to analyze. Arthur Miller's Pulitzer Prize winning play of 1949 is widely regarded as one of the cornerstone pieces of American literature. Death of a Salesman is centered on the life of Willy Lowman. It challenges the literary fact of achieving the American Dream. Willy is a 63 year old man and has been a traveling salesman all his life. Despite his hard work Willy, his wife Linda, and their two sons Biff and Happy have always lived on the brink of poverty. Willy has always been low end of the totem pole at his company, but Willy constantly tells himself and his family that he will soon get the "big break” he deserves. He has raised his two sons, Biff and Happy, to also believe that somehow life has cheated them and insists that one day they will get their due. Linda, Willy's loyal wife, lives under the thin veneer of denial that her husband has so long tried to keep from collapsing. In the end despite his protests otherwise, Willy knows he is a failure. He begins to slowly kill himself by inhaling gas fumes from a hose in the garage, an act that relieves his mental anguish and gives him a brief high. The gas also muddles Willy's mind, conflating past, present, and future. This shifting through time and space helps the reader/audience see how much pressure there has been on this......

Week 5, Dq#1

...DQ#1: (Ch. 2, economics) How does the local, state, or national economy affect your business or place of work? I always loved the study of Economics, too bad that I was never good at it. The proof in that statement goes like this: I own a small manufacturing business that builds cat furniture, you know, scratching posts and such. We manufacture all year round but we only sell our products about 5-7 times per year in the Arizona market. Our products range in price from $35 to $345. So, when the economy started slowing, we cut way back on the larger, more expensive items, and started producing more of the items under $100. I figured that customers would not be so willing to part with a big wad of cash for a non-necessity item. Boy, was I wrong. Come selling day we were sold out of the larger items within a couple hours, and the smaller items didn’t move as well. Bottom line, we went back to making larger items and they are selling better than before. I still don’t get it, are these non-necessity cat posts recession proof? Since we only sell locally, the state and national economy really has little impact on our business. Are there businesses that are relatively recession- or depression-proof? They say that replaceable items such as toilet paper and cosmetics are relatively recession proof. But then, the petroleum industry may feel a pinch, but not as hard as manufacturing, such as automobile manufacturers or even the insurance industry. So how can we explain......

Eng 125-Week 5-Team Paper

...Aspect of Human Experience: Love Team B: ENG/125 Aspect of Human Experience: Love Introduction The human experience chosen by this team is the experience of love. There are many forms of love and many different ways literary authors bring readers to experience love through their works of art. To demonstrate this experience of love throughout the different types of literary forms, the team chose to compare Chekhov’s Misery, Marlowe’s The Passionate Shepherd to His Love, Langston’s Salvation, and Shakespeare’s Hamlet. Through this comparison, the team will demonstrate how authors bring readers to understand and experience love through their use of literary devices and style of writing. Misery Chekhov’s use of literary devices Anton Chekhov’s short story, Misery, had literary devices to show the love Iona, the protagonist, had for his deceased son. Chekhov displays imagery of the unconditional love a parent has for their children. Throughout the story, Iona was searching for someone he can confide to about his loss. Iona, a sledge-driver in Russia, encountered five people during his route but was unsuccessful in venting his sorrows. He loved his son so much he was willing to talk to strangers about it. Foreshadowing was a device used in Misery as well. The story began and ended with Iona and his mare. In the beginning of the story, Iona and his mare sat in the snow while waiting for customers. Iona searched for strangers to talk to but in the end, it was his mare...

Interoperability solution helps to reduce redundant data entry, speed access to information and create a real-time flow of information through an enterprise IT system. The main advantage of making interoperability is to advance the visibility, sharing and re-use of data collection between disparate healthcare applications and devices. However, interoperability of health care management information systems covers health and patient information, clinical knowledge and workflow, and technical matters such as architecture, messaging, 2- I determined that the most significant requirement of an effective solution to interoperability is its ability of operative effectively in heterogeneous environments. Our textbook states that, “Teams can be led by a formal leader or through a particular division of labor across team members. This distribution of leadership responsibilities is called team leadership capacity (Day, Gronn, & Salas, 2004), with capacity referring to the potential for such leadership to fulfill those responsibilities,”(Weiss, 2011, p.179). Bill Wrigley Jr. II and Bill Perez shared responsibilities at Wrigley. According to An Introduction to Leadership, “Perez managed the day-to-day operations and finances, while Wrigley focused on long-term strategy and culture,” (Weiss, 2011, p.179). Both took equal responsibility for the company tasks. The two together were able to accomplish more than they would have been able to separately. In other words, they exhibited synergy (Weiss, 2011). 2—- Using Kotter’s eight-step change theory can improve the process of change in an organization dramatically. In this discussion I have chosen three of the eight steps to explain and provide examples of. The first step I will discuss is Stage 1: Create Urgency. This stage encourages......

Identify some companies with which you have been personally associated, or companies that you have read about which have gone through the outsourcing process for some of their business operations. How did affected employees react to the outsource process? With all of the things that can go wrong with outsourcing do you think that there should be better laws in place to regulate outsourcing? For example, do you think there should be a law that says that a company can not outsource to another company if that company has had minimum wage or safety violations? In this emerging economy, we hear that a lot more jobs are going overseas, yet at the detriment of the U.S. work force. We always heard of manufacturing being a sector that has looked to overseas for purposes of reducing costs. What are some of the newer business processes that are being outsourced?
