CA 1-4

It is not appropriate to abandon mandatory accounting rules and allow each company to voluntarily disclose the type of information it considered important. Without a coherent body of accounting theory and standards, each accountant or enterprise would have to develop its own theory structure and set of practices, and readers of financial statements would have to familiarize themselves with every company’s peculiar accounting and reporting practices. As a result, it would be almost impossible to prepare state-ments that could be compared.

In addition, voluntary disclosure may not be an efficient way of disseminating information. A company is likely to disclose less information if it has the discretion to do so. Thus, the…...

...What killed the dinosaurs Introduction: It is one of the greatest puzzles in paleontology. For more than 150 million years, dinosaurs rule the Earth. They were so successful than other animals groups, mammals included, had little change of taking over. Then, 65 million years ago, the dinosaurs disappeared from the world altogether. Did they meet a quick and catastrophic end, or did they fade away gradually? What happened 65 million years ago? In the search for answers to what killed the dinosaurs at the end of the Cretaceous Period in the Mesozoic Era, scientists have looked beyond fossils. Geological evidence also holds clues and has led to many hypotheses, working explanations, of how dinosaurs may have become extinct. The extinction mystery is far from a simple “whodunit.” The same piece of evidence is sometimes subject to multiple interpretations. And, as yet, there is no obvious answer, no piece of evidence that strongly supports only one hypothesis while showing that all others are incorrect. So what do we know about dinosaur extinction, and how do we know it. Evidence: Scientific evidence and observations are the building blocks of hypotheses. At first the same evidence and observations may support different hypotheses. As more evidence becomes available, some hypotheses are proven, others are disproved, and new ones are formed. Hypotheses: A dinosaur extinction hypothesis is a testable statement......

Why I Want to Learn About Medicine

...Why I want to learn about medicine I have always known I wanted to work in medicine, ever since I was a child. I have worked as a Medical Assistant in orthopedics and gained several more certifications for almost eight years and enjoy every bit of it. I want to advance my knowledge and certifications so I can learn more and do more. I feel that the intricate detail of our body is all mechanics’, there is power in knowledge and I need to know it all. How is our body made and why does it work is truly what I’m interested in. My goal is to educate myself little by little to build up to being a RN-FLA, this will allow me to work for myself at some point and build my own schedule. Education can be scary, in the sense of traveling to the unknown. I find that I am a traveler with my learning. I need to go see it all, a nosey little busy body that looks and touches everything. Peer through every window of opportunity, if I don’t know or understand when it comes to medicine or education I am the first to ask. There is so much out there to learn, see and do, I can’t help but want to adventure it. I work in a field that is always changing with our fast paced society. Without new knowledge and advanced mechanics’ you as a medical provider or support staff will find that your patient will no longer trust your advice. Being said, I am a traveler, I need to have the knowledge and will search out the proper answers needed. Medicine needs to be given 100% otherwise lives can be at risk....

Why I Want to Be a Nurse

...I remember it like it was yesterday. The squeaky white floors, and how I had to stand on my “tippy toes” to see through the glass. In that room on the other side of the glass was what felt like hundreds of babies, new babies that had only been in this world for a so short of a time. I knew I wanted to be one of the “angels” caring for them. My sister was a preemie, born 9 weeks early, so the family spent a lot of time in the hospital with her. In the following weeks and months, I witnessed nurses staying not only at this tiny infant's side, but the family's also as she was hooked up to yet another tube. These nurses went above their required duties and cared for my sister and family not only physically, but emotionally and mentally. The nurses, far more than any doctor, were our support system. I, at that young age, would ask them my questions about what was to happen, and with patience and knowledge, they answered me with such care. Being such an intimate witness to the struggle of life and death left me with a deep sense of human fragility. I realized that the human body is so very intricate and beautiful in its complex delicacy. Witnessing a nurse's holistic role for the patient embedded deeper in me that I had a calling to serve others in the medical field, specifically in the field of children. Ecclesiastes 3:1 states that every endeavor man can undertake has its own time and meaning. Looking back on my own life, I see various experiences and opportunities of growth......

Before I Die I Want to

...Before I die I want to... Before I die I want to be able to do many things that I want to do but I will only highlight a few that I really would like to be able to focus on. One thing that I want to be able to do before I die is to be able to live happy and relaxed for a long period of time. Another thing that I would want to be able to do before I die is to travel to a few different countries or even states for example in particular South Korea and maybe London. Something else that I would want to be able to accomplish before I die is to be at the top position possible at a job in the IT field or some computer related position. Lastly before I die I would like to be able to live life without regrets. The reasoning behind me wanting to be able to live a happy and relaxed life is because ever since I got into high school I don’t think have been living constantly happy life, and I have defiantly not been able to be relaxed because I picked up a job that I almost work every day and have lots of things I have to constantly worry about especially now that I’m in college, and my grades really matter to me now and hoping that I will be able to do well in my classes. Another reason that I would want to live happily is because living happy can help your life span so If I continue on living stressed out and worried about things every day I feel like it can affect my health in the long term, I feel like being able to live worry free would be such a good feeling. I really......

...NYANZA SUGAR COMPANY (SONY). This makes sugarcane farming a major source of income. The THREE major challenges that are facing my community and has greatly hindered its proper development are as follows:- 1) Lack of infrastructure such as roads, electricity and water: this is the main challenge that we face in my community. The murram roads leading to my community are in poor conditions and become really muddy during rainy seasons and very dusty during the hot dry spells. This greatly hinders easy transportation of people and goods in and out of the community. Being that the roads are not tarmacked, the heavy-duty tractors that aid in the transportation of sugarcane to the factory contribute a lot in the increased destruction making them more bumpy and the transport very hectic. Lack of electricity is another catastrophe that affects my community a lot. Electrification is quite expensive and this is something that most people living in my community cannot achieve because of the poor living conditions and the meager income that they get from selling their farm products and working on the company’s sugarcane plantations. Therefore, electricity is very sparse and only the few who have the capability are able to use it in their homes and charge the other people’s mobile phones at a small fee. Lack of clean water is another challenge that makes my community’s infrastructure to be poor. We mainly depend on streams, boreholes and river water. River Sare, considered the main......

Why I Want to Teach

...of image they want to imprint on their students. Growing up I have had many teachers, some have left good and bad experiences in my life that has ultimately brought me to where I am today. “John Dewey was possibly the most influential educator of the twentieth century and probably the most controversial one”(Sadker &Zittleman 2010). I believe in being a progressive teacher in that I want to see my students at any skill level continue to improve. As a progressive teacher I will have 3 main goals: to inspire, grow and groom individuality into each student under my care in the classroom. I will a teacher whose image will never be forgotten and whose tenacity for education is never questioned. I believe that, if possible, every child no matter the age or ethnic background should be treated as an Individual in the classroom. In my own personal experiences being a student I have seen how even in a college setting the connection a teacher or professor can have with a student one on one is much more satisfying than a teacher who just teaches a class. Education, according to John Dewey, is the “participation of the individual in the social consciousness of the race” (Dewey, 1897). As such, education should take into account that the student is a social being. The process begins at birth with the child unconsciously gaining knowledge and gradually developing their knowledge to share and partake in society. Furthermore, in my educative journey with my students I want them to be......

Learn More, Earn More

...November 2015 Learn More, Earn More Think back to your first job...what was your pay starting out?  Entry levels jobs in the past certainly did not earn higher wages like those being fought for today.  Fast food workers are raging for an increase in minimum wage-to perform jobs that don’t require a high school diploma, or college education...little to no academic requirements are needed to work at a fast food restaurant.  Minimum wage in North Carolina is currently $7.25, whereas fast food workers would like to raise minimum wage to $15.00.  A person with minimum skills should not receive higher than current minimum wage. Fight for $15 is a Workers Organizing Committee, a union of fast food workers raging ands striking for higher pay.  This organization was founded in November of 2012.  These workers believe that they are forced to live in poverty, because they earn a wage of $7.25. “We work for corporations that are making tremendous profits, but do not pay employees enough to support our families and cover basic needs.” (Fight for $15) These jobs are not meant to be careers for adults with families.  These jobs are meant for teenagers that live at home and are in high school or college.  Clearly, no one can raise a family off of $15,080 annual income, before taxes, if they worked 40 hours a week.  But, a high school or college student can.  One of the strikers says, “Low wage jobs are the fastest growing jobs in the nation, and they need to pay more.” (Fight for......

...Student Name | | Abdulrahman Redwan | 1316429 | A Global Perspective of Human Resources For Dr. Ali Alkahtani Human Resources: A Global Perspective Employee engagement and cultural issues have become the first challenge facing HR professionals around the world, according to the 2015 Global Human Capital Trends report, released by Deloitte. The report concludes, “Today’s HR challenges require a new playbook—one that helps make HR more agile, forward thinking and bolder in its solutions.” The report says today’s organizations are facing a new world of work that will require a reshaping of strategies for leadership and talent management. Because culture is the driving force in most organizations, engagement and retention strategies need to be responsive to these changes. However, more than half of survey respondents said their organizations have poor programs or no programs at all in place to gauge or bolster engagement levels. Other issues uncovered by the report include a global lack of leadership succession programs, with only 10 percent of respondents saying they have an “excellent” program in place, and the need for a complete makeover of most HR departments. Only 5 percent believe their organization's performance is excellent, with 22 percent saying their department is adapting to their workplace’s changing needs . What is happening in HR in 2011? Are we going to see a shift in the way that HR managers are recruiting employees......

...either can't afford to sell or run the risk of foreclosure. 2 Housing Bubble Globally Impact on Economy: There has been a great deal of argument in regards to what the full impact of the U.S. housing bubble will entail. Optimists keep insisting that we have hit bottom and can only go up from here. Of course nearly every bottom call that has been made thus far has been wrong. There is evidence and no reason to think anyone who sees a bottom now is correct. The fact is that housing has helped to support our economy since the great depression and became even more of an investment vehicle after the fallout from the stock market bubble. Because housing is so huge, a decline in the housing market could have a serious effect on our economy. How Bad Will It Get? Losses in the housing market are expected to exceed any damage done by the savings and loan crisis, the tech bubble, and the stock bubble.'They're going to dwarf those losses because the losses could easily approach $1 trillion - that dwarfs anything that has ever happened,' said Kenneth Heebner, manager of CGM Realty Fund (Capital Growth Management) in a recent interview with Bloomberg. A $1 trillion loss in housing will certainly be difficult to make up elsewhere. And the U.S. isn't the only country that will suffer as a result.......
