Propaganda Poster Essay

...World War II Propaganda Poster The poster I made was a propaganda poster that would be used in hopes of recruiting more soldiers. In this case I have used my poster to go mainly against the Nazi’s, but I added a little bit against the Japanese as well. Within the poster itself you are able to see a nasty green hand with a swastika on top of it. I also included four hands breaking apart the swastika, and lastly I have portrayed the Japanese and their evils within a sort of scythe. This is what is mainly seen, apart from the slogan itself and the evil eyes in the background. As you can see, I used Demonization in this poster. This can be seen in the way Hitler’s hand was drawn. It is a nasty green color, with long yellow nails in which way giving it the looks of, perhaps, being a zombie or simply un-human. When it comes to the Japanese, I have represented them within the scythe. This was supposed to be a scythe just like the one of the grim reaper, but I decided in the end to make it look more like a skeleton hand as opposed to just having a long rod as is typically seen. The last factors used were the evil-looking eyes. I added Hitler’s mustache and comb-over so that he could be identified. In this way effectively showing how evil he is. The next tool I was able to use was name-calling. By saying, “Help get rid of those filthy Huns!” I am, in a sense, degrading the German army. I also used “Eliminate the yellows from the rainbow.” By doing so, I am not only making fun of...

Poster Analysis

...on one point with intent of drawing the audience’s attention. Everyone has a different way to connect his vision to the audience. Unlike the racism propaganda poster from World War II, which depicted the enemy as evil animals, posters made for the current war in Afghanistan use emotional pictures and subliminal messages through text to either promote the war or to criticize America’s presence in Afghanistan. A propaganda poster titled, It Can Happen Here, was written by Lars Hasvoll Bakke in early 2006 and was printed in the Politico Magazine later that year. The poster did not appear in any other reputable magazines; but, it is available online for purchase. By using multiple layers of text along with vivid, destructive colors, Bakke is able to push his personal opinion of the war in Afghanistan. In an attempt to better connect with the audience on an emotional level, Bakke uses the image and powerful words to reach out to the audience. The front plane of the image, which first draws the reader’s attention, depicts a destroyed home missing the majority of the sides and completely missing the roof. Beside the house can be seen an old style car that has also been destroyed with rubble all around. The color used for the sky is a mixture of orange and yellow. Above the house is the largest text used on the poster, which reads, “IT CAN HAPPEN HERE!” in bold red letters. Below the house, more text can be seen written in smaller font. The text used here, SOMEONE COULD......

...Poster 3: The Kitchen is the Key to Victory. This picture depicts a lady in a kitchen setting. There is an image of a large golden key instead of the word Key. This has more visual impact than using the word, it draws the eye of the viewer and makes them think more about the message being put across. The lady in the picture has a large saucepan in her hands which has steam coming out of it. There is a large aga style range behind her. The saucepan lid is on and the viewer cannot see what is in it. This allows the viewers imagination to create images of all sorts of delicious contents, in the hope of that it creates thoughts of alternative meals to bread. The words The Kitchen is the Key to Victory are in golden letters to give a sense of the richness and prosperity that are to be associated with victory. Below these words are the words Eat Less Bread. These are in red for more impact and to get the message across, it is an instruction, not a request. World War 1 Propaganda Posters

...“Women of Britain say – “GO!”” During the First World War posters were used as a way to spread propaganda. It was meant to encourage men to go to war, and women to help on the factories while their husbands were fighting for their country. One of these propaganda posters is called “Women of Britain say – “GO!””. It was painted by E. J. Kealey in 1915. E. J. Kealey was an artist for the First World War British army recruitment campaign. Description of the poster The poster pictures a woman and her two children, standing in a window and watching as a group of soldiers leaves for war. The woman holds the older child’s hand over her heart and the younger one holds on tight to his sister’s dress. Their facial expressions are painful and their eyes are filled with longing. The woman and children is placed centrally in the photo. They are standing inside the house while the men is outside and with their backs turned to the woman and the children. For the viewer, this creates a sense of being inside the house with the woman and the children and it makes us feel more related to them. Women’s role in war The message of the poster is directed to both women and men. It is meant to encourage men to join the army and go to war. It pictures the greatest motivation for enlisting: protecting women and children. But also, it is directed to the women of the British soldiers. Movie Poster Review

...Soila English 102 28 February 2015 Movie Poster Comparing Analysis Any reader who comes across the two posters gets an immediate sense that it is an advertisement (purpose) of western movies (genre). These posters are intended to promote to action packed movies: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly and A Fistful of Dollars. This is clearly portrayed by the images of the cast whose dress code is western where cowboy hats and natural beards are evident. In addition the use of bold western font and the color selection, particularly of sunset-like orange and brown, makes it so western. More revealing, is the prominence of the guns. Clint Eastwood prominently occupies the central portion of the poster. In the poster on the left (Good, Bad, and Ugly), he is smack in the center. On the poster on the right he dominates at least two thirds of the poster. On the poster on the left, the reader will notice scenes of action casting heated gun battles and on the forefront are three men standing in confrontational postures. These features would quickly capture the interest of an audience that is interested in western movies (genre) that is also interested in real action, energy, or those with a fascination for violence (logos). This action and energy is suggested by the mean faces and guns (one each per poster). The two posters are engaging in that they equally draw the reader who is interested in action to look further into the background and see further portrayal of action. ......

Chemical energy is stored inside a substance or object until it is involved in a chemical reaction. Our bodies use chemical energy to perform daily functions. Cooking is a good example of a chemical reaction that releases chemical energy. Batteries and explosives are other examples of objects that contain stored chemical energy. There are six basic types of chemical reactions: combustion, synthesis, single displacement, decomposition, double displacement, and acid-base. During combustion, chemical energy in the form of heat is released when oxygen combines with other substances to form water and carbon dioxide. Poster Reflective Journal

...Poster Reflective Journal When making group and creating the poster, I have a chance to understand more deeply the application of the theories that I have learned in this subject, both strategy and leadership. Firstly, through our poster making process, I realized how important leadership is in a group’s achievement. The leader would be the one who connects all followers, encourages them to exchange ideas, figures out solution to problems and reach the shared target. Unfortunately, in my group, no one wanted to take that responsibilty, because no one wanted to be hated for pushing other members to work harder. Consequently, we worked not very effectively, some people usually just waited for others to do everything. At that time, I relized that leadership is a talent that not everybody possesses, and also a skill that we have to practice. A good leader, first and foremost, should know how to inspire and motivate followers. Secondly, at the workshop, when I saw the posters of 21 other groups, listened to lecturer’s comments and made a self reflection, I have learned three valuable lessons. The first is internal strengths and competitive advantages are two different concepts. While the former should be of the company itself, the latter belongs to the product. For instance, the company’s strengths can be its innovative team, which helps it continuosly improve the products; or its marketing expertise, with effective strategies and efficient tactics to approach potential......
