Project Scope

...Project Scope MGMT412 Unit 2 Assignment Project Scope A project scope is all the work that has to be done in order to deliver a product or service. The project scope statement is a detailed description of the project’s end result and the work required to make those end results. It provides an understanding between the stakeholders about the project’s scope. It will include the product scope description, product acceptance criteria, project deliverables, project exclusions, project constraints, and project assumptions. A product scope description explains the features of the product that is described in the project charter and requirement documents. The product acceptance criteria will define the process by which the accepted product is completed. The project deliverables is the products end result. The project exclusions are the items that cannot be included in the final project. The project constraint is the limits, such as to the budget, for the project. The project assumption is a list of the assumptions about the project and the end result if those assumptions are not met (A Guide, 2008). The project scope as it relates to sales and marketing will be affected after a survey determines that the customer wants more or different things in their product. This means that the project would cost more and the time line to get the product out may be sooner than planned. This affects things like the financial bottom line (How Marketing, 2011). Most people from the beginning of the project associate project scope with cost and time. When the scope of the project has been defined, the cost and time to implement and complete the project can be calculated. As the project is implemented, it is a fact that the scope is expected to change. This is then where cost and time are recalculated and added.
