I. Summary in chapter 6
Motivation is the one of the best essential skills of manager. To become a prospective manager, we should know the important of motivation, how to motivate the employees effectively. In the chapter 6, I have learnt the motivation concepts from theories to practical. Understand the human psychology and give the way to motivate effective. And today, I would like to give you some knowledge that I have learnt in this chapter and share one of the best ways to motivate other – recognition.
Motivation makes people active for doing some work. It creates an extra energy in the body of human to perform the particular work, exert high levels of effort to reach organizational goals, specifically for Organization Behavior to reflect our singular interest in work-related behavior. Some theories of motivation have focused on what things motivate workers. The theories we’ve discuss in this chapter address different outcome variables. In this section, I would like to summary the basic concept theories.
In Need Theories, we introduced four theories the focused on needs: Maslow’s hierarchy- proposed that there are five levels of human needs: psychology, safety, social, esteem, self-actualization; ERG with three groups of core need- existence (similar Maslow’s psychological and safety needs), relatedness (similar to Maslow’s social and status needs) and growth (similar to Maslow’s esteem and self-actualization needs); Douglas McGregor’s theory proposed that there were two basic views of…...

Employees are usually given plaques, trophies, certificates, small gifts, vacations, and dinners with company officials as a way to recognize their achievements. Cash awards are sometimes also given. Current U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) standards related to revenue recognition are essentially rules-based, containing over 200 specific requirements related to revenue recognition. In FASB's news release of May 28th, Chairman Russell Golden stated "the [new] revenue recognition standard represents a milestone in our efforts to improve and converge one of the most important areas of financial reporting. It will eliminate a major source of inconsistency in GAAP, which currently consists of numerous disparate, industry-specific pieces of revenue recognition guidance." The wide-ranging converged standard eliminates detailed industry-specific codification contained in GAAP and streamlines revenue recognition guidance by superseding numerous standards issued by the FASB, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the Emerging Issues Task Force (EITF), and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).
