...folded. Nevertheless, even the best CRTs are much deeper than an LCD; the KV-40XBR800 is 26 inches deep,[2] while the LC-42D65U is less than 4 inches thick[1] – its stand is much deeper than the screen in order to provide stability. LCDs can, in theory, be built at any size, with production yields being the primary constraint. As yields increased, common LCD screen sizes grew, from 14 to 30", to 42", then 52", and 65" sets are now widely available. This allowed LCDs to compete directly with most in-home projection television sets, and in comparison to those technologies direct-view LCDs have a better image quality. Experimental and limited run sets are available with sizes over 100 inches. Efficiency LCDs are relatively inefficient in terms of power use per display size, because the vast majority of light that is being produced at the back of the screen is blocked before it reaches the viewer. To start with, the rear polarizer filters out over half of the original un-polarized light. Examining the image above, you can see that a good portion of the screen area is covered by the cell structure around the shutters, which removes another portion. After that, each sub-pixel's color filter removes the majority of what is left to leave only the desired color. Finally, to control the color and luminance of a pixel as a whole, the light has to be further absorbed in the shutters. For these reasons the backlighting system has to be extremely powerful. In spite of using highly......

...CHAPTER 1 Folly of Rewarding “A” while hoping for “B” – Giving the employees rewards for hoping more work is done. Intrinsic/Relational – satisfy higher level needs for self-esteem and development. Recognition & status, employment security, challenging work, learning opportunities Extrinsic/Transactional – Satisfy basic needs for survival and security. Benefits include income protection, allowances, and work/life focus. Cash compensation includes long-term incentives, short-term incentives, and merit costs of living. Before a company starts developing its compensation system, it needs to establish a reward strategy. This is a mix of rewards both extrinsic and intrinsic, that the organizations intend to provide. It is the blue print for creating the reward system. Compensation system has 3 main components: 1) Base pay – the foundation pay component for most employees and is generally based on some unit of time. (Per hour, week, month) 2) Performance Pay – relates employee monetary rewards to some measure of individual, group or organizational performance. 3) Indirect Pay – noncash items or services that satisfy a variety of specific employee needs such as health protection. The first step in a compensation strategy is to determine the role that compensation will play in the reward system. Since most organizations want to minimize compensation costs wherever possible, you have to identify what other rewards are being provided and......

... Chapter -1 ABOUT THE REPORT 1.1 Introduction: Banking sector, considered as ever growing child, in any country plays a pivotal role in setting the economy in motion and in its development process, while the banking structure -the number and size distribution of banks in a particular locality and the relative market power of specific banking institutions determines the degree of competition, efficiency and performance level of the banking industry. Bangladesh’s banking sector consists of Central Bank (named as Bangladesh Bank), Commercial Banks, Development Banks and Specialized Financial Institutions. The Commercial Banks comprise of Nationalized Commercial Banks (NCB), Local Private Banks, Foreign Private Banks, and Islamic Banks. In recent years, it is observed a mushroom growth in the banking sector in Bangladesh. The very active and lively presence of private sector has stirred competition among the traditional Commercial Banks. The shadow of fierce competition in banking industry can be observed through the recent achievement of the Private Commercial Banks. The competition to pursue clients and imitate one another is so intense that one bank lures efficient staff of another bank offering higher facilities to get better edge. Private Commercial Banks often introduce new and diversified financial products to provide wider option to customers. Without having an effective customer base, it becomes difficult for any bank to compete and sustain in the competitive......

...PROJECT MANAGEMENT (THE NETHERLANDS) Abstract th Originally developed in the mid-20 century, project management has become a distinctive way to manage business activities nowadays. Another important development is virtually universal recognition of the role of innovation and technology in the corporate change, growth and profitability. It is unsurprising that development of innovation is often run as a project. Yet, theoretically both project management and innovation studies have evolved over time as distinctively separate disciplines. In this paper we make an attempt to conceptualise the innovation project management and to specify the idiosyncratic nature of innovation projects as opposed to conventional projects. By doing so, we contribute to the nascent academic debate on the interplay between innovation and project management. Key words: project management, innovation, technology 1. Introduction This paper is concerned with three topics and the interplay between them, namely “Innovation”, “Research and Development (R&D)” and “Project Management”. The interest in these topics has exploded recently as they emerged both on the policy agenda and in the corporate strategies. The contribution of technological innovation to national economic growth has been well established in the economic literature. In the last couple of decades, new technologies, new industries, and new business models have powered impressive gains in productivity and GDP growth.......

...take the carrots, is not permitted to sell them elsewhere unless Campbell agrees. This is the kind of provision which the late Francis H. Bohlen would call "carrying a good joke too far." What the grower may do with his product under the circumstances set out is not clear. He has covenanted not to store it anywhere except on his own farm and also not to sell to anybody else. We are not suggesting that the contract is illegal. Nor are we suggesting any excuse for the grower in this case who has deliberately broken an agreement entered into with Campbell. We do think, however, that a party who has offered and succeeded in getting an agreement as tough as this one is, should not come to a chancellor and ask court help in the enforcement of its terms. That equity does not enforce unconscionable bargains is too well established to require elaborate citation. The plaintiff argues that the provisions of the contract are separable. We agree that they are, but do not think that decisions separating out certain provisions from illegal contracts are in point here. As already said, we do not suggest that this contract is illegal. All we say is that the sum total of its provisions drives too hard a bargain for a court of conscience to assist. ... The judgments will be affirmed. COMMENTS AND QUESTIONS 1. Perhaps Campbell foresaw the $90 price on Chantenays, and the Wentzes did not. This opinion deprives Campbell of the benefit (to which they are entitled, unless the contract truly is......

...Term Paper for Communication We communicate in many different mediums. Modern communication is predominantly shaped by the advancement in technology. The human race has come a long way from “tribal epoch” to the “electronic epoch”. (Wood 305-308) However, the electronic approach to communication has grown exponentially during the last decade. Most communication mediums we use today such as cellular phones, the Internet and television are all associated with advancement in technology. In many ways the electronic mediums are similar to the natural form of communication, while they are different on other levels. Modern mobile cellular phones deliver messages similar to the traditional phones, but this new medium has changed the nature of communication. The modern structure of wireless global communication was predicted in 1945, with the “geostationary” radio communication “satellite”, long before the cell phone was ever invented. (Clarke 305-308)The geostationary satellites are positioned on a specific Even today cellular phones use radio technology similar to FM or AM radios. The invention of the traditional landline telephone has created an “interpersonal medium” (Burkell 312-323) with which one person can communicate personal messages to another person verbally. Today because modern cellular phones have revolutionized the device, now it can do much more than just two way communication between two individuals. The wave of smart-phones introduced to the market has created a...
