The book entitled "The Amazing World of Laughter and its Super Healing Power" authored by Professor Espie Chinel Aparis, our managing director of UM Fitness and Wellness Program is indeed a very helpful and enlightening book. The book tackles about what is a genuine laughter and happiness. Laughter has two parts- a set of gestures and the production of sound. Genuine laughter and happiness must come from the heart, thus, not forced. I learned also that practicing a fake laugh will gradually leads you to genuine laughter and happiness.

Laughing also has benefits not just physically but even socially. It can help your physical health because according to psychologist Steve Sultanoff, laughter increases ones tolerance of pain and boost the body's production of infection-fighting antibodies. This can help prevent hardening of the arteries that causes angina, heart attacks or strokes. Sultanoff added, with deep heartfelt laughter, it appears that serum cortisol, a hormone secreted in our body during stress, is decreased. Laughter also enhances your brain by easing muscle tension and psychological stress. Thus, laughter keeps our brain alert and retain more information. Laughter is also a form of workout. It gives your diaphragm and abdominal respiratory, facial, leg and back muscles an exercise. Laughter also lowers blood pressure. It makes breathing deeper which sends oxygen enriched blood and nutrients throughout the body.

Laughing also provides social benefits. You can win a friend by sharing a joke! Everyone loves someone who can make them happy. The more you share your happiness, the more friends you will gain. Laughter also eases the tense between groups of people. If things heat up, then a good laugh will save the day. It eases the tension inside the room and makes the atmosphere lighter. Laughter can also elevate everyone's mood. A person with a good mood tends to be more productive during the day.

Whether personal or social reasons, everybody should laugh constantly. You can find happiness everywhere, from the street signs, to the things you see send even in the persons that surrounds you. A happy person bears a happy heart and soul. What are we waiting for? Let's prepare our tummy as we share a sumptuous laugh.…...

Healing Hospitals

...Running head: HEALING HOSPITAL Healing Hospital: A Daring Paradigm Maria Grand Canyon University Foundations of Spirituality in Health Care HLT-310V September 30, 2012 Healing Hospital: A Daring Paradigm Introduction In this modern era many hospitals in this country have turned their attention to patient’s feelings and spiritual beliefs along physical signs and symptoms of disease. Spirituality and religion recognizes that a person is more than the physical, cognitive, and emotional self. Judaism and Christianity tend to see the person as a tripartite unity of body, mind, and spirit (Marks, 1999). There are hospitals that are called “Healing Hospitals” where they integrate spirituality and healing in their hospital mission. According to Edelman & Mandle Spirituality is defined “as life purpose and connection with others, affects health”. Healing Hospitals are looked as Healing communities. Zarren indicated that” Healing is a journey toward wholeness or wellness. Community is a body of people living in the same place under the same laws and can also be defined as joint ownership. If a hospital exists as Healing Community, then all members of the community have the opportunity to heal”. This essay will discuss elements of a healing hospital and its connection to spirituality, overcoming barriers and complexities of the hospital environment while establishing a healing atmosphere, and a version of the Bible that adopts the concept of a healing hospital.......

The Power of Steroids in the Sports World

...Steroids are one of the most controversial drugs known to the human race. These drugs are seemingly notorious for their ability to produce large amounts of muscle mass in an attempt to exploit ultimate power, performance, and dominance in a person. However, the negative effects of steroids tend to have a severe impact on the justification of the drug’s use in today’s society. When I say society, I am rather referring to a more predominant superior subculture, the professional athlete that can easily be held accountable for the cultivation and spread of steroids. This “high-class” group can denote the contrary of ethics; that is, revealing actions which tend to expose a sense of narcissistic personal qualities that hinder our beliefs of what is right and what is wrong. At one point or another, performance enhancing substances outspokenly seem to enter every professional athlete’s mind. The issue of steroids or any performance enhancing drugs in this matter has significantly heightened recently and seems to be a legitimate issue within professional sports. In an attempt to meet expectations and standards, reduce the pressures to perform, and alleviate public scrutiny, many professional athletes are left quivering in fear whether or not to take the two-faced drug that’s so readily adhered to by many. In my attempt to explore the mainstream issue of steroids in professional sports, I wish to focus on three imperative aspects that will help assist in the......

Super Powers

...* Imagine that you could have one super power. What would it be and how would you use it? What would be your kryptonite? The super power I would love to have is teleportation (transfer of matter or energy from one point to another without traversing the physical space between them). Having this kind of power will allow me to think about where I want to be, get dress and be get there in little time. My professors and my parents will never have to worry about me being late to class because it only takes me a split second of a time to arrive. My Kryptonite would be thinking of two places at one time and getting stuck in between walls and dying. As a freshman in college it is so hard to adjust to the college lifestyle so teleportation would be a perfect super power for me. I can imagine myself being in situations like having a 9:00am class, sleeping through the alarm clock, it’s now 8:45am and having little time to get to class. I could jump out of bed, take a quick shower, brush my teeth, and get dress by 8:59am. I would then use my super power teleportation, think about my Finance class and still made it to class at 8:59am… on time! When I get older, complete my college education and retire from my career field in Finance, I would love to start traveling around the world. I would have no more stress about transportation deciding on whether to drive, take the train or taking the plane. Whether I want to go to Jamaica, Puerto Rico, Hawaii, etc., I can save on my......

Thesis on Laughter

...the study. Synthesis was also created based from the gathered information and facts in literature and studies. These studies will also the researchers and readers to understand their study more. This will give greater information about how laughter slows down aging. According to Adams (2005) Laughter is a healing activity. Laughter operates on at least three different levels. They are the biophysical, the biochemical, and the bioenergetic levels. At the biophysical level, laughter also moves lymph and oxygenates your organs. Laughter moves lymph fluid around your body simply by the convulsions you experience during the process of laughing; so it boosts immune system function and helps clear out old, dead waste products from organs and tissues. Remember that your lymph system doesn't have a separate pump; your body needs to move around to properly circulate lymph fluid so that your immune system can carry out its natural functions. Laughter is a great way to support that. Secondly, laughter increases oxygenation of your body at both the cellular and organ level. By laughing, you intake vast amounts of oxygen in huge gulps, and you repeat this process in a sort of temporary hyperventilation session. This is the natural result of laughter, and if you watch someone laugh, you will notice these biophysical effects. People would ask why oxygen is good for the body. Oxygen is one of the primary catalysts for biological energy in the human body. Remember, we breathe in......

Islam - the World Power of the Future?

...ISLAM - THE WORLD POWER OF THE FUTURE? Table of Contents In the 19th century Islam had virtually disappeared from view in Europe and America. Only a few Westerners in distant colonies had been exposed to Muslims. Some romantic tales about the Turkish wars survived. However, the rapid technological developments in the West had by-passed the Islamic peoples, making them appear insignificant. But not much time has passed since Europe was last in danger of being overrun by Islam. In the year 1453 Constantinople, the Eastern bulwark of Christianity, was captured by the Ottomans. Later in 1529 and again in 1683 the Turks stood at the gates of Vienna. The struggle to free Belgrade lasted almost 200 years; and it was only a short time before the First World War when the last Balkan countries were able to shake off the Islamic Turkish yoke. For 600 years Islam and Christianity have wrestled with each other in that area. Many Christians have forgotten that Syria and North Africa were once the heartland of the Christian world! But during the first Islamic invasions in the years AD 632 to 732 they were overrun and fell under Arab control. Muslim armies swept into Western Europe and stood no more than 200 kilometres south of Paris, and near Geneva, too. If Charles Martel had not stood firm we would likely all be Muslims today! Nietzsche, the atheist, ventured to say sarcastically, "The greatest mistake in world history was the defeat of the Arabs at Tours and Poitiers." The third......

Power and Place in a Globalised World

...Power and Place in a Globalised World The world we live in has become increasingly globalised in the last few decades, and is continuing to do so further. Globalisation has caused the study of Human Geography to become more important in today’s world. The topics of power and place are huge parts of this study. Globalisation has caused our world to become smaller and more accessible. However, globalisation has led to an uneven development across countries. The idea of power is highly concentrated in well-developed countries, but is almost non-existent in countries that can’t compete with the modern and fast-paced lifestyle in countries of Western Europe, North America, and Australia and so on. The world has in fact become a “global village”. Countries are well-connected and with global flows of goods and services and capital. This has caused a massive gap between the rich and poor. Although power is uneven and unfairly distributed across countries worldwide, the idea of place isn’t. Place is something unique and treasured in each country, regardless of how globally connected that country is. Globalisation has merely caused different cultures in various societies to be influenced by each other and caused merging of different traditions and customs. Each place however, is unique to its own. The idea behind globalisation is to make the world become more integrated and connected. Although this is true for the most part, there is a clear uneven development of power across the......

China World Power

... I think that this is only fair, or else China will be the only country benefiting from trade with the western countries. Furthermore, the trade deficit between China and the US is evident, and China owns over $700 billion in trade surplus. Most of China’s trade surplus comes from the US due to high imports, and already harms the American economy. The acquisition of Unocal by the Chinese company will only harm the American economy more. Even though China previously used the trade surplus and reinvested in the American economy, which allowed real estate business to boom in America, the current use of it would be detrimental to the US. Frank Gaffney stated how China ‘s strategy is to overtake the American economy for the “premier economic power” and also overtake America militarily. I firmly believe and fully support Frank Gaffney’s comment, as this trade will only harm America, and once again would be a bad deal for the American people....
